Sound problem when using mini displayport to TV

Guys,

I had a look at the post regarding connecting a 2011 MBP to TV. My problem is related to sound. Earlier (Snow Leopard) I had no problem.

But since installing Lion I can see the image clearly but no sound. What am I doing wrong where? Please assist or point in the right direction.

I am using a mini displayport to HDMI adapter and from there a HDMI cable to TV.

Dunno about that setup but System Preferences -> sound -> output?

Have you upgraded to 10.7.2 (iCloud version); If so then you need to be aware that there is a known issue with the HDMI sound output https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3376125?start=0&tstart=0

One solution is to ensure that you unplug anything in your headphone port to get it to work.

Thanks Droid. I had a look and posted the question there as well.

I have not been using the headphones at all. That should not be the problem. Will wait and see what comes out as an update.

Strange, for me on either a mac mini or macbook pro 2011 I can play sound through HDMI connection to the TV, only a problem when the headphone jack is also used?
