Hi Guys,

I'm hoping you can help with a problem that a buddy of mine is having. He has a windows 7 pc (ASUS P6-P5G41E with an ATI 6850) connected to a TV (Samsung 51D451) via HDMI.

Last week, the PC started giving problems with sound. Everytime he put the TV off and on again, the video would work but no sound. When we check playback devices, Windows shows the ATI HDMI sound device as "not plugged in".

At first I thought this was a driver issues, but rolling back the driver didn't solve the problem. Then we uninstalled and re-installed the graphics card with the current drivers, the problem persists.

Any advice?

Faulty HDMI cable?

If I turn on the PC and load windows before the TV is on, I don't get sound so I have to restart. Perhaps give that a try and see how it goes.

Problem solved. The new driver catalyst 12.4 was the problem. Uninstalled it and installed 12.3, it solved the problem.
