Ok here the setup

I know it not ideal but working on a small small budget

to add to my ps42c450 / xbox 360 setup should i get

Logitech z506 R350

or

Logitech x530 R600 (maybe R400)

Well I brought two z506 and one x530. Each priced at 350. One for my parents. One for me and one for my mates bday pressie.

Now which one do I keep?

so you would keep the x530? even though according to the website the z506 are higher powered?

Ok the Z506 replaced the X540's which replaced the X530's. So I would go with the Z506. Sorry in your first post you said the X530's were more than the Z506 so I ASSumed they were better.

that is the really odd thing... the z506 are newer but their original price at incredible was R699 but the x530's original price at incredible was R1299.

So i am really confused.... what does the x530 have that deserves such a high price?

Just test both sets and see which you prefer, how does the inputs and functions differ between the two?

they dont really, the x530 comes with an adapter to connect rca and the z506 has rca built in.

So does anyone have any of these systems?

No but I know Logitech stuff and they will suit your needs well at the price.

Personally I prefer 2.1.

they had the thx 2.1 system but at half price it was still R1000.

ya for 350 I am very happy chappy :)

R1,000 is a good price for the Z-2300.

Don't skimp. Get the Z-2300. I have them and they will be great, especially for gaming. Put some of the savings towards them.

Or get the Z-5500 5.1.

Trust. :)

are the speakers wall mountable?

on the z-2300?

is it really worth the extra 650?

but i think what i got will suffice for the time being as these will be transfered to pc once i have saved more and gotten a proper system with amp and blah blah but that is the future.

So your opinion is the 2.1 is better than 5.1?

No they aren't mountable but you could mount small shelves to have them stand on.

Definitely worth the extra R650. Worth R1,000+ more. They've been the best selling higher end 2.1 PC speakers since they came into production.

Well if you will get 5.1 in games/movies then you might prefer 5.1. Not sure if you can connect 5.1 PC speakers to a TV/Xbox for 5.1 sound?

I prefer music which is 2.1 and don't mind gaming on 2.1 either. And the Z-2300 are in another class completely in terms of sound quality. Also much less cable clutter - something I'm sure you and your better half would be concerned about. :)

well unfortunately the z2300 is out of stock. So i guess i will be content with my z506 or x530... still havent decided... will let the wife decide which one to keep.

its in a newspaper ad... i just heard through mybb and phoned... i am in durban and all 5 branches in durban know about it. Pavillion is practical sold out on all logitech speakers... the z-5500 were the first too go :(

where are you ghostsixfour?

ps its in conjuction to their crazy sale. Just phone the silly branch back and tell them to find out from their manager / head office.
