R90-million sports technology boost for South Africa

The Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture has set aside R90 million to procure Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology for top-tier football in South Africa.

This is according to sports, arts, and culture minister Gayton McKenzie, who responded to a Parliamentary Q&A from Rise Mzansi MP Makashule Gana.

Just another way to complain. VAR is nasty because you feel like you can't even go back once you've experienced it. Goal line and offside should be the only tech deployed. Staying away from VAR is one way the women's game could positively differentiate itself, but I fear they will miss the forest for the equality trees.

I guess this is the last season Sundowns wins the league
