South Africa is under attack

South Africa is facing one of the largest cyber attacks it has ever seen, with banks, ISPs, and the government being targeted.

Last week the City of Johannesburg fell victim to a cyber attack which led to its information systems becoming compromised.

Sounds a bit melodramatic.

Sure, the pace of DDOS and ransomware attacks has definitely picked up, it seems, but banks, government, ISPs and other highly public sites should by now take it as granted that they will automatically attract this and have measures in place.

The fact that our local online milieu hasn't been too noticeably affected over the last few weeks indicates that we mostly have appropriate measures in place. No need for complacency, but I'd hardly characterise it as dramatically as the tone of this article suggests.

And yet not a single post from anyone at mybb to say that the numerous timeouts and loading issues are due to factors beyond their control.

It is a massive problem as I work with international sites and having a very hard time trying to access some sites for work.
