People here sure do love to complain... about absolutely anything and everything!
Electronic voting is a terrible idea. Even in countries that don't have rampant corruption.
The sum total is of e-voting is this:
Email me your ballot paper and I will count it for you. Do you trust me to count it properly or not?
Paper voting works well enough because it is simple even for socialists to understand.
The real question is: to what end. What is wrong with the current election system that it needs changes?
I would say a couple of things come to mind.
Firstly, ballot papers go missing almost every election.
Secondly, there is no way other than relying on the good will of political parties that papers are counted properly.
These two measures can easily be solved with using some form of electronic assistance with the process.
Firstly, all ballot papers should be marked with code of the voting station they are sent to. That makes fraud even more difficult to commit because you would have to get copies of those ballots for each station to rig an election.
Secondly, when ballots are counted, they should use a computerised counting system that scans in the ballots before they are manually counted. That will provide a somewhat independent way of making sure votes are counted fairly.
