Hello everyone,

Im curious as to know how many Online Gamers there are in South Africa.
If anyone has some sort of source i can get a rough amount of how many there are.

Like "How many South Africans play Call of Duty 4"
And "How many South Africans play Counter-Strike Source"

Its not four South Africa only and it doesnt have COD4.

NooBieless, do you mean competitively or overall?
 
I guess it will be impossible to determine thru adding up all the registered gamers (given duplications, non-registered online gamers playing hearts, etc)

Best way to do is to guestimate (good statistical analysis problem). Start with internet penetration stats (worldbank or the like) then drill down from there. Normally the type of question you ask during a Bain/Mckinsey strategy consulting interview... :)

Only real way to determine would be to do a survey; probably off one of the big ISP's customers and then extrapolate
 
Well he doesnt want the exact number, more like a ballpark firgure to maybe help him decide which game to get?
I dont play either of those.

I play TF2 and i would guess there is around 200-250 active players, with around 40-60 online at once during evenings.
The numbers go up and down during exam and holiday times.
 
We have about ~300 active Heroes of Newerth players on SAHoN.co.za and a further ~100 active players on retail HoN so I'd say there is around 400-500 HoN players in SA.

War3.co.za (private war3 in SA) has around 800+ players last I checked....
 
NGL has over 800 players registered for the blackops league.
