Shameless spam. Copy of my post at xbox-360.co.za below:
I have registered a South African PES League at MyLeague.com . This is an awesome free site that provides basic league administration tools on-line. Once things are up and running, the league should run itself. Sign-ups are open, and anyone is welcome to join.
The idea is simple. Once registered, you organise matches against anyone, in your own time, you set your own rules for the match. You can play as often or as seldom as you want to, but have to play at least one match every 22 days to be considered active. Once a match is completed, the loser needs to report the loss, and the site takes care of the rest. Besides keeping track of the main ladder, it also has a hall of fame where you can see who the “hot “ players are (longest winning streaks), who the “cold” players are, total losses, total wins, and a variety of other statistics.
There is an extensive rules page which you are encouraged to read, but the sign-up process is simple. Once signed up, you can start arranging matches amongst yourselves immediately.
Quick start:
1. Go to MyLeague.com, and click on “Free Signup”
2. Your account name must match the name you will use to play your matches under exactly (i.e. your Xbox Live user name). This includes spaces, underscores and or any other special characters.
3. Read the rules.
4. Arrange your fixtures via the forum here, via Xbox-live chat, or via email.
5. Report any losses (winner does not report) – site automates the rest!
A short summary of how the rankings work:
• When you first join you are placed in the "Unranked" category of the Ladder.
• You become "Ranked" after winning your first Ladder match. (Unranked users can play each other and the winner becomes ranked at the bottom of the ladder.)
• When you defeat a higher ranked player you move up half the distance between their rank and your own (e.g. player ranked 50, beats player rank 1, and will now be ranked 25)
• Your rank on the Ladder does not go down if you lose a match unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY below you (e.g. if you are ranked 5, and lose to player ranked 6, your new rank will be 6)
• When other players beat people above you and jump over you in rank you will slide down.
• Once your game is completed the loser of the match is responsible for reporting it as soon as possible. You report your matches using the "Report Loss" link located in the main menu.
PES-6 Specific-rules (draft)
1. PRO EVOLUTION 6 XBOX-360 RULES:
1.1 While it is recommended that matches be played with at least the following
settings, players may use any settings they choose, provided both players are in
agreement, and a winner can be determined at the end of the game:
- 10 minutes
- 3 substitutions allowed
- Extra-time on
- Penalties on
1.2 Players may choose to determine the result based on only one game, or based on a
pre-determined series of games e.g. “home-and-away” with an aggregate score
determining the winner, “best of 3 games” etc.
2. LAG:
2.1 Players hosting a game must do everything they can in order to reduce lag for the
other player, such as stopping downloads for any PC’s sharing the same internet
connection, switching off microphones if necessary, and ensuring that they have an
internet connection suitable for Xbox Live on-line play.
2.2 In the result of a disconnection by either player, the players should attempt to
re-start the match and continue to play the remaining time. For e.g. score is 2-1
after 60 minutes, and there is a disco – create a new match, assume the scores are
2-1, and end it at the 30th minute.
2.3 If there was no score in the match at the time of the disconnection, players
could, by mutual agreement, agree to start the match over completely. This should be
agreed to before the re-match commences.
2.4 If a match is very laggy, making it impossible to play, then the players should
agree to abandon the match as soon as possible, and attempt to replay it at a time
when connections are better suited to on-line play. Ultimately, common sense should
prevail.
3. MAX MATCHES PER DAY
3.1 Players are limited to reporting a maximum of 3 matches against the same
opponent in one day
4. ARRANGING A MATCH
4.1 Players should arrange their matches using the PES forums at
Xbox-360.co.za, and if necessary should follow up match requests with a
private message using the Xbox Live chat/message feature.
4.2 Example of a match request:
SUBJECT: Match request:Maradonna
POST: "Hey Maradonna, when are you available for a ladder match?"
4.3 It is not compulsory for players to play every single person who has signed up
for the ladder, but as a general courtesy you should try and honour, or at least
respond, to all match requests within 5 days maximum. Making match requests via the
forum provides a visible record of attempts to arrange fixtures between players, and
you should therefore make a point of checking the forums regularly.
4.4 If you cannot accept a match request for some reason, make sure that you at least
post a response in the forum as a courtesy to the other player, even if you have
communicated this via Xbox Live.
4.5 Under no circumstances should a player be harassed, initimidated, or threatened
to accept a match request from you - we do this for fun and the ladder is
primarily a mechanism to enhance our fun experience. Ultimately, the ladder
will identify and deal with players who purposefully and consistently avoid others.
4.6. Despite 4.5 above, a ladder's success depends on the regular activity of
players, and you should try as far as possible to remain active on the ladder by
playing at least one match per week. If you are unable to commit to this, then
perhaps now is not a good time to sign up for ladder play.
I could afford to do this now because I am currently on holiday (and bored!). I will not have the time to fully administer a league when work re-commences. However, myleague.com appears to automate all the administration, and the league should be able to run itself. It’s also possible for anyone to create their own league for this, or any other game, so feel free to scrap my little project and start your own – really, no offence to me. I’m hoping a few people will register immediately to test this, and perhaps it can be grown as a tool to compliment this forum, and for other leagues for the Xbox 360-SA gaming community. It took me less than 2 hours to set this all up, including the rules, so I’m sure others more talented can do it in half the time!
Please also feel free to post some feedback on the “Game-specific rules” under the rules section – I made this up myself as I went along. The remainder of the rules are standard myleague.com rules.
