I've searched for this on the boards with no real results... let's build an index of all the South African WAP sites. Maybe if it's good enough we can make it a "sticky" in here. Let's keep it in the format:

SITE NAME/PUBLISHER
URL

Some I've found/enjoy:

Google SA
http://www.google.co.za/m

Mail & Guardian Online
http://wap.mg.co.za

Cell C's Juice
http://www.juice.co.za

Comedy Twist Mobile
http://www.comedytwist.co.za

MTNLoaded
http://mtnloaded.mtn.co.za/dsb/LoadedWAP/Homepage.do

VodaLive
http://www.vodalive.co.za

Nike Paralympics
http://NikePo.mobi

Take2
http://www.take2.co.za/wap

Feel free to add yours!

Now it may just be me but I use Opera mini on my cellphone and have no need for WAP sites.... perhaps this is the reason for the poor turnout on your thread?

It probably has quite a bit to do with it, but Opera Mini won't help downsizing flash-based sites like Vodacom Live. I just keep hearing about admob and how many ads they're serving on WAP sites in the SA territory, I wanna figure out where all these publishers are...

Now I’m curious.

I wonder if any of these websites are still active or has the South African internet adopted HTML5?

I mean, TeleText is still active and we haven’t switched to Digital TV yet.

What a blast from the past. "WAP" as a term, I have not heard in a long time.

Remember when using the internet was done via dialup the phone. Was helluva expensive and slow to use.
