Data price reality check for South Africa

South Africa's mobile and fixed-wireless data prices are unlikely to fall soon as network operators still need to invest significant sums in expanding their networks, Rain CEO Brandon Leigh told the Sunday Times,

Although the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) recently concluded an auction to release radio frequency spectrum — or cellular network capacity — Leigh said it would be a while before the industry realises price decreases.

No, it won't. South Africa is the most expensive country in the world to live in. So, we do not expect any decreases in prices anytime soon. The cow can still be milked heavily. No end in sight.

Glad I don't live in your world.

How do these idiots sleep at night ?
Oh right in huge mansions

While the money rolls in, they sleep like Kings on their R100k beds. Hence the reason we should not expect decreases in pricing any time soon.

Like I said, our lower and middle class do not have problems with money. They all have more than enough of it.
