South Africa's preferred cloud provider

... but for what?

Productivity (Email, Meetings)?
Infrastructure (SaaS, PaaS)?
AI (Copilot, etc?)

There's not enough data in here to draw any conclusions. "Cloud Provider" is way too broad.

Really? I never expected this. In my professional experience, corporates always went to Azure for all infrastructure. Very few times I’ve seen some smaller businesses (including mine) opt for Google.

And in mine it's always AWS again.

Feels like a sponsored article.

Other than a few Google Workspace and individuals using Google Drive it's AWS / Azure and Oracle Cloud for all the companies I deal for/with.

Which Google cloud services are being consumed that make them more popular compared to the others?

I mean does GCP even exist locally?

Google Workspace is quite popular but is also an entirely different thing.

Or are they throwing in Azure here and comparing it Workspace from a Directory perspective and not conspiring infrastructure at all?

Exactly

Are we comparing workloads or consumer SAAS?

So almost all large consumer facing businesses have some GCP due to Google Ads / Google Web analytics requirements. Even if is just to stage the data before they get it to their preferred provider. But often marketing just run their own shadow cloud in GCP  when the enterprise architects are adamant that only AWS or Azure are used.

Totally get you and I agree, heck I even use GCP myself as stated above - But I highly DOUBT that was taken into consideration when compiling this report.

Just because most (if not all) businesses use Google Ads, that can't be considered as the "preferred cloud provider" - That's like saying SuperSport is the preferred sports channel in the country, yes, it is, because we don't have another choice 🤣

The article is completely useless as it does not state what the choice criteria were + sample size of 1,348 is hardly a fair representation.

Need facepalm and roll-eyes emojis!

Horseshyte.

No self respecting company would use gcp.

Aws first the azure... Gcp only if you need to soil yourself.

Eh? I know for a fact several major companies in SA use GCP as their main cloud provider....
