Was curious if its its just our exchange having issues, Southern Suburbs, Cape Town on 021704....
Problems started around a month ago with intermittent resets, with fluctuating and often poor downstream SNR margins.
I reported these issues and the Telkom technician could find no errors on my side, even climbed up the pole and redid the connection there. Someone phoned me with some explanation I cannot quite recall about the 2 types of connections we have being the problem as we are on ADSL2+ and the internet to us is coming in on a different technology.
Up until a month ago I have never had much issues with my ADSL.
The past 10 days have seen more of the same, constant resetting of the line and yesterday Friday pm it went crazy resetting every few minutes.
When I woke up Saturday morning the link was down according to the router and remained off the rest of the day.
I tested my line by dialling into it as there is a fax machine on the end and it did not sound noisy and I could hear the fax tones so there is life there.
The link came back up after 5pm yesterday after being down the whole day.
Other than the SNR margin fluctuating and the huge volume of CRC errors, is anyone else experiencing the same and what do you think the Telkom guy meant that phoned me as it seemed like the 2 technologies were not going to resolve themselves.
In the attached image, the SNR seems OK but it usually ranges around 8.
My only other thought is to downgrade back to 10Mb but first I need to determine if its not just some major issue on Telkoms side first.
