The Soweto Gospel choir has taken home a second grammy for their album “African Spirit” at Sunday night’s 50th Grammy Awards.

This is the second time in a row the group has scooped top accolades in the “ Best Traditional World Music” category.

“We are particularly excited as it shows that the level of our music has stayed consistently high, and this has been recognised by our peers."

Congratulations, well done!

I'm not the church going type, but I do enjoy their music. Caught them on that Gospel show hosted by Rebecca Malope, last week and they sound great.

sure way to win a grammy...do anything, anything at all, traditional...I dunno of any other SA'n artist/group that has won the grammmy doing anything other than traditional....

I think there was some dude on Carte Blanche a while back who won a grammy for the composition of music for movies, or was it an Oscar?

But as for the traditional thing, I guess some thing can be said about originality? Even though I believe SA has some great Hip Hop or Rock acts, they are not really original as it is genre's(sp?) of music from the US.
