Hey Guys,
So my area has been plagued with cable theft and now Telkom refuses to install new cables so there goes my ADSL.

Options?
WiMax
No reception

iBurst
Poor Reception
Crap bandwidth costs

3G/HSPA+
Average Reception
Crap bandwidth costs

Telkom SpaceStream

Apparently you can use ADSL details with this? I wouldnt mind paying the higher rental and installation costs if this means I can use my uncapped account with this. However, it states you need an ISP (assuming for such ADSL details), but there also appears to be a 'secondary' cap on the service itself? Can anyone confirm this for me please?
No point in being able to use an uncapped adsl account on it if you have a 12gb "service cap".

Short of diginet (far too expensive), are there any other options?
Low Latency would be nice - Im having BF withdrawal symptoms 2 months without ADSL now :P

I do not know about costs, but latency is rubbish on Space stream, unplayable I would think, in fact any real time application like skype is not possible, speeds from my experience are slower than adsl, performance is very dependant on the weather, even clouds moving in the are can change performance.

I have had a couple of clients that have tried Space Stream, with very poor results. Slow and terrible latency.

It is a last resort option really. Just ok for e-mail and some lite browsing, but nothing more.

3G with a good antenna or some sort of wisp / neotel would be better in my opinion.

And i'm not sure about using any ISP. I was under the impression you had to use Telkom, but i'm not sure if that includes their uncapped accounts. You would need to speak to Telkom about that.

Thanks - I think I'll stick away from it... Thinking of another option now - but will open a separate thread for that since its off topic :P
