I don't get catching the fairing, sure it'll be impressive but it must be cheaper just to make a new one compared to thrusters, parachutes and a massive ship to catch it.

I think they are trying to make as many of the components as possible reusable.

When I read the article I pictured our descendents standing at the helm of a space ship chatting about how this private company was the only reason they are millions of lightyears from earth.
