Spain 2-0 England

England were out-classed tonight.Xavi put in an amazing performance, the guy is a playing football on another level.Spain are now 29 Games Unbeaten.

Some of the quotes from the BBC commentry:

Xavi plays one of those mind-boggling passes to bring Sergio Ramos into play down the right, but Shaun Wright-Phillips is alert enough to get the block in. He must be able to see round corners, that Xavi.

"England have to admit that the gulf between the two countries is huge. Spain are superior in every department, stringing passes together and cutting through England's defence like it's not even there. Their movement is fantastic to watch. As impressive as wins in Germany and Croatia were, there is still a long way to go for England to even come close to the European champions."

Xavi gets a standing ovation as he walks off the pitch in Seville and Daniel Guiza replaces the midfield genius.

Best comment of the night on other forums... (paraphrased)

England is playing like Chelsea - no creativity in midfield and the strikers do p1ss all

Xavi and Iniesta were in a class of their own last night. Good news for Barca!

Xavi and Iniesta really go together like salt and pepper.

I thought Pique did alright on his debut.

A bit nervous at the start - but kept it clean at the back.

I didn't find the game on DSTV WTF

I didn't think that match deserved a thread. Maybe if it was Spain vs Brazil. :)

So many EPL "england" supporters that I thought it deserved a thread.

For anyone that missed David villa's goal....

On other news though Argentina beat france 2-0, Messi adding another goal to his stats.

Yes, great performance by Spain, great passing game. They have a lot of depth, Fabregas wasn't even available. But you have to put things in perspective; Spain are ranked no.1 in the world and also Euro champs so it was always going to be a tough one for England.

hmmm I don't get it why did Torres only manage to last 64 minutes?

Is there something wrong with him?

Nothing wrong with him.

When you put him next to a striker like David Villa - he just looks average.

well Rafeal seems to think he's (along with Stevie G) exhausted all the time...
