Spam push messages

There is a digit missing. Will not be from a WASP as MTN does not allocate us 087xxxxxx numbers to transmit on.

EDIT: Oops, I should have checked your link. Could be sent on an international carrier that has a manipulated from number. Explains the missing digit.

I also received a spam message from the same number on the evening of the 2nd, with the link rd1.in/-somenumbers-.wml. I'm on Vodacom and have almost never received spam, but that same morning I got a Cell C data contract and specified my Vodacom number as a contact number. I wonder if that's related...?

Getting that kind of BS on VC too, though not exactly that message. I just delete everything without opening...nobody respectable sends me these funky message. SMS, email or gtfo.

Contains the link: sf3.in/r4bl3d3bvbaba2b.wml

It's spam/junk pushed by a company called Smartcall. If you follow that WML link and look at the contents of the re-direct, you'll see that it contains the following text:

"Subscription service at only R9.99 every 3 days. For HELP write to [email protected]. Text STOP to 39215 to unsubscribe or send mail to [email protected]"

The number 39215, according to the www.smscodes.co.za site, belongs to:

SMS Code: 39215
VAS Rate: Standard
Name: SMARTCALL TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS (PTY) LTD

So go ahead, nail them. As a WASP they're not allowed to send SMS messages from outside South Africa - they are thus already in contravention of the WASP rules and can be blocked by the networks. But it will only happen if you complain to your SP.
