(AP) — POTCHEFSTROOM, South Africa - Spain players Sergio Busquets and Pedro Rodriguez were robbed ahead of their World Cup semifinal win over Germany in Durban.

Spanish media reported the players' rooms were broken into ahead of their 1-0 victory on Wednesday, with Busquets losing documents and about ?800 ($1,014). Pedro reportedly lost about ?1000 ($1,267) from his safe.

Busquets said Friday that "nobody likes to be robbed ... but I'll exchange all of my documents for the World Cup."



The Spanish federation would not comment.

Spain plays the Netherlands in Sunday's final.

Three Greece players also had money stolen from their hotel rooms just outside Durban earlier in the tournament.

Actually, if you start adding all this up, there has been a lot of crime perpetrated against visiting teams.

Yea maybe but dude have you seen our crime stats? we barely get shocked when someone is brutally murdered anymore. Hearing about some pocket change going missing really means pretty much nothing hey.

no matter what happened, it never changed SA is the most successful worldcup hosting country. ;) It is not gong to change 2010 worldcup is the best worldcup ever. …………..:rolleyes: …….

and the "sold out" matches with so many "ghosts fans", the anc government has to explain why. Did anc government use tax payers' money to buy tickets? how many tickets sold to anc government and used how much? those are the questions we have to investigate and find the answers after worldcup.

They should nab him and send him to The Hague while they have got a chance.

Either that or he is coming to collect all his people in South Africa so they can go pay taxes back home.

Yes DreamKing. The ANC bought hundreds of thousands of tickets to inflate our figures. Go look at news24.com. It's all there.

I'm trying to understand the thought process behind your comment. What is lame? If you were robbed, how would it affect you on the eve of the most important game of your life/career?

How many did the ANC actually buy then, or are you counting all the parastatals that definitely bought way too many tickets as the ANC?

No I don't. In fact my reply was deleted by a mod. Firstly, NONE of DreamKing's links link to the ANC. NONE.
Secondly, what is this absurd notion that the ANC bought tickets merely to inflate figures? That was the insinuation.
Thirdly, so? As long as it wasn't bought with corruption money, ANY politician is allowed to view the games.

So buying tickets with TAX money are Ok in your eyes. Why should the politicians and their families not pay out of their own pocket and over inflated salaries? Seems to me you are on of them and are here for self justification.

So stealing/using government funds for private use, originally earmarked for other requirements/budgets are not deemed corruption? Than can only be in an Africans eyes! that for sure!
