Hi everyone! A few days ago my PC just wouldn't boot so I decided to rather go and buy some other cheap components. I bought an Asus P5KPL-VM/S motherboard and a Sparcle 9400gt (had a 8600gs). It was all I could afford, OK.

Anyway, previously, on the old mobo and GFX card, when I played a game the pc would sometimes suddenly freez, the screen would make loads of blocks and the image on screen would be destorted (a destorted still image of the game). Now, with the new stuff, this also happens but the image on screen isn't so destorted. the pc just freezes and then I have to restart. I also have new 2gig 800Mhz memory in, so it can't be memory. I also reinstalled windows.

I made a Nvidia monitor log file, and found that the card temp steadily rises over about 1 min of gameplay when at 43'C the PC crashes.

What can this be?

What hardware did you carry over from the previous motherboard?

Try removing that 1GB?
Otherwise do some maintenance on the drives (check for errors, defrag).

OK I just pulled the 1gig and played a littlle Damnnation, and after about 10 mins it didn't crash. But I am not certain, because this problems is very random, and happens at different intervals.

I'm very surprised at the performance of this R500 card though, I can play Damnnation on full graphics (1280x1024).

Ok so today I confirmed that it is NOT the 1 GIG memory. The Screen went distorted and the PC froze again without the memory in. So now what can it be? I forgot that the other thing I brought over from the old PC is the CPU, a Intel E4600.

Isn't there some kind of utility or something I can use to test the PC and find the problem? The one thing I know it isn't, is heat because the pc is running very cool.

Thanx:)

What power supply do you have?

It's one I bought: Mpt-5002 (not sure which make), 500W super silent. But it's one I bought new so I don't know. I don't have another one to try though.

Could be the game itself, check if there's any updates for it and your OS.

Also check your HD cables for any damage.

If only...... :o There is very few games that it doesn't happen on.

Try updating the os , and try use the gpu on another pc and see what happens , also what happens when you turn the settings down low .
