Statistics for crimes such as murder and rape are much higher in KwaDabeka, KwaDengezi and Mariannhill than Hillcrest, Westville and Pinetown. However, property-related crimes in the latter areas far exceed those reported in the townships.

KwaDabeka, KwaDengezi, and Mariannhill recorded 127 murders in the 2011/2012 compared to 36 murders in Hillcrest (which includes Gillitts, Waterfall and Embo), Westville and Pinetown (which includes Kloof).

Mariannhill had 61 murders, while Westville had two.

As do most. Still, it's interesting how certain areas are afforded such attention and others are bypassed. I would say it's racism but I think it's got more to do with predujice against people of certain income levels.

They do but even if the DA took over tomorrow it would still be quite a while until crime levels go down, unfortunately it would probably also mean a spike in political violence.

If DA took over in that area it will do what it has done in Cape Town: sit back and beg national gov to send in the army.

What would be scary though is the army would probably have quite strong group of ANC supporters and we'll have the same issues when they took over the Nats. Let's hope the takeover is so subtle it isn't noticed.

Well, there are factors of education: Do these people actually know how to voice their fears and dissatisfactions?
And then secondly the factor of means: Do they have the means to voice their fears and dissatisfactions?

For the first, I blame the ANC for not delivering better education.
for the second, I blame the ANC for hampering and throttling communications in SA.

And let's not talk about why these people are living in poverty in the first place, or why the criminals have resorted to theft because of poverty!
(factors for which the ANC is also to blame).

These people just need to wake up and take a look how their ANC representatives are living and their lifestyles.
That should provide them a quick education.
