Hi Guys, I have borrowed the work's Iburst connection and I get excellent speeds and most importantly quite a good ping towards gaming servers in SA. like 50ms

I been waiting for 6months for adsl, but telkom has no infrastructure here yet as it is a new development.

So if anyone here has got a modem for me I can buy over or something.

Please let me know and how much you are asking for it.

Yo man, was actually looking for the desktop modem, so I can share between multiple PC's, how does it compete with the desktop version, performance/signal wise?

Is it cool if i can collect/pay for it round the end of the month, havent really budgeted for it now.

What area are you in?

The sales rep who did the initial signal test said that the USB modem's antenna was better. Not sure is this was true. But I stay in a odd dip of a valley, and the desktop modem could only give 50% at best, with the booster the signal went up to 70% the USB modem managed 80%+ without a booster...

The technical reason behind it... not sure.

As for the modem, it's sold... sorry mate. hehe

If you are happy with your work's Desktop Modem, then that's what you should get.

The other day I saw a desktop modem on Gumtree JHB for R1000.
