How can anyone be so thick? There is a difference, as we have covered extensively in this very thread, between trying your best to kill the animal in a humane way and torturing it to death for entertainment.
 
This all good and well. The only issue I have is you can't practise certain things in a urban area especialy in the densified suburbs we live in these days. My question is what happens with the offal? Dumped in the garbage to be collected only in a weeks time? Are you allowed to keep your livestock for extended periods of time in your back yard ? Surely there needs to be some kind of frame work within this can be practised?

It seems with african rituals it is a free for all and none of the country's laws apply.

Even the Hindu's have to adhere to municipal by-laws regarding fire works for their festivals.
 
So because people approve of the death penalty for certain crimes it means they must also support torture as a penalty for those crimes?

Its a common thing called 'Respect' but you dont understand that big word.
How do you want to die? Slowly or Quickly... being taunted until you shout and then have a sharp object shoved in to your chest? Humans have a trait that animals dont have, its called 'Reason' and 'Compassion' .. some people just havent evolved from animal yet.

Let's face it IT IS BARBARIC. Europeans know it is because they were doing similar things over 1000 years ago.
We haven't revived this part of our culture because it is cruel. Why don't you evolve a little and see the light.:D
 
Us Africans will fly jets, wear rolexes, drive ferraris, design computer programs, make movies but we will continue to slaughter the bull to honour our ancestors for granting us access to these priveleges. Ask Tony which particular ancestor he thanked for the Range Rover Sport and he will tell you.

We don't see it as babaric. If you see it as babaric then it is your problem. Stick to your culture and I'll stick to mine.
Just go to Rainbow chickens and take a tour of how chickens are slaughtered. All rainbow chickens have to be Halaal. You can't mess with the backbone during slaughter. Some muslim prays for the chickens and then they have their throats slit like we do at home. Very ritualistic if you asked me. They are just pulling wool over your eyes about this humane killing crap. If you eat rainbow chicken you are just as babaric.

I don't eat Rainbow chicken, though I know the family that runs it. Where possible, I buy organic.
Chickens are not even killed outright, they are stunned by an electric current first so that they don't feel the pain.

Muslims don't goad the animals before slaughter so that they bellow. They use a very very sharp knife instead of a blunt dirty spear. They cut the arteries and windpipe at the same time so death is quick. They also don't bit the poor creature's tail :mad:
 
R100 of mine says the whole issue is gonna be 'brushed under the carpet' - as allways when high profile people are involved.

It is amusing us that you think there is a better way of killing. Anyone or anything ever died and come back to advise you on the best way to kill? Who knows maybe death occurs 10.5 mins after the heart stops beating? Maybe an organism still has feeling and consciousness long after death? Certainly, we dont know. So lets not judge each other using the false assumption that one form of killing is superior to another. In fact the western effeciency is responsible for the death of more birds than ever before in history. Besides I also think genetically modifying animals is barbaric regardless of how clever it seems!

I have to concur with@Richard. Every South African chat room I visit faces the same problem. This country needs some serious recon. However, thats how we'll get to understand each other better.

I challenge the SPCA to start treating animals humanely i.e. by not eating them. That's a very good way of showing sympathy and compassion.
