Hi Guys,

I have been living with this for quite a while now (2-3 months) and it's getting out of control.

So my speaker on my iphone is a bit buggered, but my phone is in perfect condition. So I cannot leave my phone on ring otherwise the speaker crackles and makes a terrible noise, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It then freezes :( I also cannot watch a video - it just fails and keeps loading. I cannot play music and sometimes even record a video for some odd reason. I have had my phone on silent for ages and I am starting to get extremely frustrated, the most annoying though is I cannot type on my phone with it on ring, it freezes and is useless

I have tried restoring and reseting settings etc.
My phone is still under warranty and ends in December. Should I take it in? Will they charge me? It hasn't been in contact with water or anything else.

Thanks

Oliver

If I were you I'd take the phone in for repair. Take it back to your service provider as they are the ones responsible for the warranty in South Africa.

Definitely agree with Blocc Prince. Take it back to have it repaired under warranty (but be prepared to be without the phone for a while).
Else you could have it fixed under your own cost. Gmob is pretty close to Fourways, and they fix these things while you wait.

Well let me tell you another story :( My phone was replaced earlier this year due to it not picking up any signal, so I went to Apple, and they said take it to Vodacom. Off I went, only to discover it was an 8ta iPhone? So Apple felt embarresed as my warranty did not apply. They gave me a brand new one and now this happens.. :(

You're lucky (well, "lucky") then, as the warranty is with iStore.

This is the problem with non-official iPhones. Because Core didn't import them, iStore can't honour the warranty. If my iPhone 5 stops working, Incredible Connection is responsible for the warranty, not iStore.

You can see (most of the time) with whom the phone warranty lies by going to Where's My iPhone From and entering your Model Number (Settings > General > About > Model). Mine give no Country info (I used another site once and tracked it to Singapore, but I'm trying to find that information again), but I tried with a colleague's phone just now and it identified the phone as being from South Africa (Vodacom).

You can see the phone's official Apple warranty status by entering your serial number on the Apple self-serivce site (my 1-year warranty runs out early December).

Seems mine is from the UK or Ireland :) How long does my warranty apply for now?
