Howzit guys,

I searched through quite a few old threads but i found them outdated.
Im really looking for a nice set of 2.1's.

Im looking to spend around R700.. dont really wanna go higher than R900 if possible.

I was having a look at the following:

Logitech X-240's, X-230's. +-R600
Creative I-trigue 3220 +-R850
Logitech Z4i +-R900
Logitech Z3e +-R850

Thats basically all ive looked at. Any personal opinions on these? I've read reviews on a few of them but reviews only tell you so much... i feel personal opinions to be a better judement. Any help would be appreciated :) thanks

logitech.. creative, there almost both the same both brilliant speaker own both sets one set for media server and one for pc.. so either way you wont be dissapointed

Woah, thanks Charlie :) Some great prices... ill have a look at those places.

of that list, definitly go for the Z4's. Have a set at home, and they are awesome. Also have a set of Z2300 and those are just insane for a 2.1 set, but obviously a bit more pricey...

yeah. R2k is a bit outa my price range :p
z4's it is. Prob gonna get from dkalmin place... they about 2 mintues away from my work so they are legit :p

The white ones are a lot cheaper than the black ones, sure you've noticed.

Expect to pay R800 for white and R1000 for black (latest pricing).

I've got the X-230 and it's a fantastic set of speakers, with very good sound clarity. Got my pair for R429 a couple of years ago :). Logitech speakers comes highly recommended, which ever set you go for.

Hi Guys

You all seem to be Logitec fans.
Thats great. But as an aside I was wondering if you had ever come across the setup I am using. I have had these since the Windows 98 days and they are great.

Microsoft Digital Sound System 80.

I have them connected via USB, but one can also use a 3.5mm stereo jackplug.

Unfortunately M$ has not supported the software since the '98 days, but the sound without the control panel is still awesome.

I also have a Creative Intrigue 3400 in my cupboard, but I am thinking of using them with my PS3 and Samsung T260 monitor.
BTW: Incredible C......... have a Logitec Wheel and GT5 Prologue special on in the next couple of days for R800. Damm good deal!

Cheers!

40W is puny by some standards.

A friend of mine has a 600W sub under his PC desk. You can pick them up from Hi-Fi Corp. for less than a grand.

It broke all the light fittings in the room.

But he's an idiot... The Logitech Z4 set is fine for normal people. :p

In a smallish room, the Z-4s are more than enough.

Sheesh, I used to use 15watt Creatives which were even loud.

Are the creative I-trigues bad compareed to the z4? cause the I-tiruge 3220 are R200 cheaper than the Z4's and i dont really need awesome awesome sound... would i be shooting myself in the foot ?
