What's the cheapest good speakers currently available with optical input? I know the Z5500 etc have optical in but I don't need all that sound.

Cheers

lol..they have that now wow my pci sound card has those but never heard of speaker with optical inputs, damn must be some fine sound there.

The input specs for the Z5500's.

Source Inputs:
Digital optical for DVD or CD players, PlayStation®2, Xbox®**
Digital coaxial for DVD or CD players or PC sound cards (requires coaxial cable, sold separately)
6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 2, 4, or 6 channel PC sound cards OR
6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 3 stereo analog mini audio sources, like CD and DVD players, Playstation 2, Xbox, or 2 channel PC sound cards (somedevices may require stereo mini to dual RCA adapter, sold separately)
Analog stereo-mini (on side panel of control center) for portable CD, MP3,or MiniDisc® players

The optical they talk about is between your source and the amplifier on the speakers, the speakers themselves connect with copper wire to the "amp". This means if you want a smaller setup, it will probably come without the amp that the z5500 come with, meaning no optical.

if by optical u mean wireless, i know logitech has a system with wireless rear speakers... think its the z5450 or something like that

Thx for the feedback. haha yes optical cabling for the system would be quite cool $$$ though. I meant from source to amp via optical like the Z5500's. I've settled on the Z5400 which is a little to big still but it's cheaper than the 5500's so I'll just have to find space for them. The Z5400's are being discontinued so you can pick them up for a decent price at the moment.
