If a dealer advertises hardware on special, from the 20 december 2010 valid until the 31 december 2010, but then closes on the 24th of december and only reopen next year, will you still be able to get that hardware at that price if you email the sales department before the 31st december.

Reason being the corsair tx 750w power supply is on special for R699 exc vat until 31 december but the dealership is closed.

You can try.
bought a laptop last month, dealer said got only 1 left. I said I will take a change and wait 2 weeks then bought it even cheaper.

But then how can you put a special on knowing that you will be closed.

No, specials sent directly from dealers email. So all I'm gonna do is send there sales department an email stating I will be taking the power supply at the advertised price on the 3 jan 2011 as they were closed when I wanted to collect it.

Tricky question. Per contract law no since the promotion is seen as an invitation for offers, not an actual offer. However most SA shops don't follow that route, especially if you have some leverage over them (e.g. making a public fuss). Then you've got the whole ASA thing...they use a different measure altogether...mostly the degree to which the ad is misleading.

All told I'd say go for it but don't be surprised if it doesn't pan out right.

I'd be inclined to go by "gut feel" - if you know you are taking a chance because you knew they would be closed this week I don't think you have a case. Traditionally most dealers are closed over this period.

they put the advert out on the 20th dec, and stated it was valid until 31 dec. Then they send out an email the next day stating they will be closed as of the 24th until the 3rd.

That's odd, Esquire PE were open yesterday, have you phoned to confirm they are closed? If they are you could always PM Esquire with your problem.

not esquire, differant dealer, but wont mention name until i hear what there reaction is. If they give me problems then i will publish their name here, but if they dont give me any problems, then i wont give them a bad name. Hell if esquire had this psu at this price i would go there right now to buy from them.
