i need the specs for a gaming pc so that i can upgrade, limited budget!

How limited? Your going to have to give us a price range to work with. Are you selling your old pc? If so you can add that to the total amount your willing to pay.

The best way to go is choose a g-card and build the rest of the pc around that.

If you have about R3500, I would sugguest getting and AMD 754 Board nforce 3, Sempron 3000, assuming you have 512mb DDR ram from from your old pc and 7200rpm hard drive, buy a 6600GT. That should be sufficient. In my spare pc I have a sempron 2800(754), 1gig ram and onboard everything .... it plays games like warcraft fine, no pc lag watsoever

ummm i think all you need is amd 3000+ 754 which is cheaper not much slower than 939
1 gig of ram. the 1 gigs sticks are cheap now
6600gt or normal 6600 should do fine
also a 400w power supply 300 wont cut it

754 is a bad move. 939 Is slightly more future proof(If there is such a thing). If you can, rather go 939, better upgrade potential in the long run. 754 is on the way out.

Since loki couldn't be bothered to supply more detail, especially "limited budget" info, this thread is pointless if he/she/it comes back with a "sorry, I've only got R2K to spend". Common sense dictates that when asking upgrade questions, you should at least supply detail of the existing system you're trying to upgrade and an indication of what you'd want to spend and what you intend playing. Otherwise loki, IMO, whatever you have, keep it and play solitaire. It's a game after all.

I just couldn't be bothered to look at loki's other posts to find out some more info and try and assist

the thing is he said a gaming computer, with a gaming computer you do need high system specs and you WILL have to fork out some $. Entry level processors and graphics card just dont cut it anymore in games! When buying a gaming machine it is a good idea to go slightly over budget because at the end of the day you will be saving money in the long run. I bought my computer about 2 years ago and all games still run perfect;)

rburley, that's the point I'm trying to make. If loki said "R3000, have P4, xyz mobo, looking for as much bang for the buck that can play game abc" , your suggested config would have looked a lot different. Without that initial info, it's just a waste of time
