Hey guys,
Last week I got upgraded to 1024kbit and everything was going nice and smooth with 105/110 KB/s downloads etc.
However, last night my modem lost sync for a few minutes, and when it came back everything was messed up. I'm getting a lot of packet loss by the looks of things. My pings to exchange are still 16-18 as usual but on some attempts theres no reply. When I download a file it will like go normally at 100K/s then suddenly for like 3 seconds it totally stops, then resumes as like 30K/s for like 3 seconds then stops, then back to 100K/s etc etc.. like in bursts...
I've checked my side of the telkom line, i've reset my router countless numbers of times. I've tried my UUNet account, IS account, and both Unshaped and Shaped telkom accounts. It's all the same.
Really annoying since I play games and it's continuously lagging/choppy...
My router claims to be connected to the exchange at 1152/384.
I live in jhb on the West Rand. There was quite a bit of wind and electrical storm here yesterday but AFAIK no lightning near my house...
Baisically I'm just getting a hellavalot of LOSS on the line, 20-40 loss constant in CS:Source... and unstable/bursting download rates... :/

According to my router (Telkom Marconi 1 port POTS) Preformance test:
Indicator Name | Near End Indicator | Far End Indicator
Relative Capacity Occupation | 18% | 50%
Noise Margin | 31dB | 14dB
Output Power | 1dBm | 0dBm
Attenuation | 17dB | 8dB

Anybody know what's going on here?

Thx

But what I wanna know is if anybody else is experiencing the same? Is it my exchange or just me?

*gets ready for 24 hours of that telkom call-on-hold theme song music only to be answered by some idiot that doesnt know what they're doing, or forwards you to another consultant where you have to listen to that music for another 24 hours only to - at the end of the day - not be helped at all..*
