Hi all

I have a friend who is interested in getting a MyWireless connection but he is not sure which one to go for. He is keen to know if 256 will be twice as fast as 128 and half as fast as 512 all things being equal. I have done a few searches tonight and cannot find a posting on this topic.

Can anyone give me an answer to this question. Sentech are not able to offer a comparitive speed test.

Thanks

128k = 16kbs max
256k = 34kbs max
512k = 68kbs max

However, it's broadband, so you might be able to achieve speeds up to 80-90kbs with the 512k option

I can tell you now, downloading 29 meg in less than 15 minutes is as sweet as it comes [:D]

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Probably only ProAsm since he has one of each "kind" of account for testing [:D]

I wouldnt think that you could go above 512k.. that needs to be verified. I have 128k and I know it can sometimes spike up to roughly 17K (136kbps) but its below 16K/sec 99% of the time. There was one time where I had a 30K/sec spike (no not bad reporting.. this is in my connection graph so it definitely was a spike) for a few seconds so I dont know what happened there.

My guess is that its probably fairly well set up in terms of limiting BUT as you can understand, a 512kbps user WILL suffer more due to contention ratios since he/she loses more.
