Hi Guys

I a currently with MWeb, but their shaping policy is too much to bear atm. I am interested in joining Openweb, but need your input w.r.t. their 384 shaped and unshaped uncapped accounts.

Shaped - R318
Unshaped - R599

Is there a huge difference in speed when downloading torrents and streaming between the 2 packages. What speeds do you guys get on the shaped and the unshaped accounts during day and night respectively.

The R318 seem to be in my range, but the R599 is too steep.

Would be great if there wa an isp who can offer a 348k uncapped unshaped package for R400-R450

Thanks in advance guys

I'm quite impressed with the R318 package. Mainly use it at night and on the weekend, downloads from intl newservers run at "almost" capacity all the time >36KBps (say almost because although the line is capable of 48KBps, I've never seen more than 42KBps for extended periods). As far as daytime access, can't really comment as I'm at work. Streaming on any 384 account is going to be limited: will have to leave it to buffer for a bit. Maybe someone else can comment on this.

If you want to have a 128k uncapped unshaped line, try Mwebs package for R499.

Those incompetent creatures cannot run a network, but are very quick to take your money. Steer clear of Mweb.

I have experience with both gold shaped and gold unshaped, and the unshaped makes a big difference. I would suggest you try the Gold for R318, and then upgrade to Unshaped later.

mweBS uncapped unshaped is R499 maybe try that?

I'm on the 384 shaped gold and it runs between 35-39KBps during the day and night!
Thats downloading from downstorm!torrents speed varies sometimes its between 2-16KBps at night, during the day was below 9KBps

Not to steal your thread , but i'm in the same boat. Want the unshaped, but sort of can afford the shaped. Whats the shaped like for PS3 gaming? only game over the weekends.
