Speed increase from router

I know its the speed of the line for your ADSL connection that determines the speed of data into your pc. The question is would there be a significant increase in speed if you use a gigabit router to a gigabit nic on your pc or is this just to low a speed that you would never notice it?

no. adsl speed is currently 4Mb/s at best , maybe up to 50 in the future, all well below lan speed

Unless you get a 100mb line you wont notice a difference. Even then you'd need an ssd.

Well to be fair, a RAID setup would sort you out very nicely.
