Got my adsl last month and i was getting around 1.50mbps ( I'm ofcourse on a 2mb uncapped account)

But from last week till now i cant even access web pages without 2-3 attempts, i'm getting around "0.20" speed.

Its concerning because the month just like started and i haven't even used above 10 gigs.

This is what im getting now ( also froze after that) - 0.12 at the moment

Line stats please, I wouldn't be at all surprised if your problems lies with that new fault management software Telkom is using

e.g

This is what happened to a friend of mine, his ADSL is totally unusable, and has been since Janurary, Afrihost and Telkom have been terrible to deal with, I said if the problem is not sorted by the 20th, then I'll give him the nod to get a Neotel site survey done

Mine usually synced at a steady 5.5Mbps (on a 10Mbps line). One about Monday, my router resynced itself, and now won't go higher than 4.2Mbps. That tells me the change was initiated by Telkom. I haven't moved further away from the exchange, and I doubt a huge number of people suddenly connected to it to decrease my speed by 1Mbps. Would phone them, but can't be arsed waiting 20+ minutes for a human.

P.S: I get my router's connection stats from the router itself.

Just post your line stats, this now makes me think that your attenuation is too high to stably support 10mbps, so your router dropped it's sync then reestablished it at a lower speed, probably due to more than usual levels of noise on the line

Information DownStream Upstream
SNR Margin 5.0 db 11.7 db
Attenuation 20.6 db 13.2 db
Data Rate 2032 kbps 509 kbps
Forward Error 16515 0
CRC 15955 29622

I have no idea what to do, this is driving me crazy

As in my example above, your attention is very good, however your SNR is very bad, usually a value below 6.0db is a complete cut out, remove any phones and filters from your line and see if it improves, if it doesn't then just pick up your phone and listen for static or crackling, if it's there, that means there is a physical fault on your copper, report a fault to Telkom and say noisy telephone line, usually that fixes SNR issues as well

It can sync at 8Mbps, but is extremely unstable, so I requested that they sync it at a lower speed. It's been stable ever since. Until this week, that is. So what did they do that it's no longer stable? Will post when I get home.

It can be a whole lot of things
Lightning damage
Water shorting wires
Crossed pairs
Damaged copper
POTS filter

Those are the most common, I've had 2 of them happen
