This is my speed test today after experiencing drastically slow speeds. I have a 4M line speed and connection but can never reach near that. :erm:

Am I wasting my money paying for a 4 meg line as I never reach anywhere near what I am paying for. However I need faster speed to be able to do online gaming, ie Diablo.

Have you tried giving your ISP a call to have them look into it for you. Both locations to cape town and joburg produce the same results. Also are you on a uncapped package. Your exchange/line could also be at fault. Ask them to check your line stats as well.

Can you believe that they appear to be closed today. :wtf:

I need to get hold of a local Telkom technician as apparently I can ask them to move my line to a different maybe even closer exchange.

Are you sure that you are not currently being throttled by Imaginet. They were my first ISP and when I was with them they do throttle quite aggressively. I know there used to be a star rating somewhere on your account profile when you log in to see whether you are throttled or not. Also good luck at getting hold of telkom this time of year. I think next week you might have better luck.

What's your line syncing at? They could resync your line to a higher rate if it's not on 4Mb. Could be unstable if you're not close to the exchange though.

Cape Town speedtest's ping looks a bit high though, would be good if you could post a traceroute here to check if it's a problem at the exchange.

Nope, not going to happen.

Telkom might move you to another port if your current port is faulty but your results are more indicative of downloading whilst running the speed test or exchange congestion or ISP shaping.
