When I'm PAYING for 4 MB per second line speed and I am delivered of just over 2 MB per second line speed I find it offensive! Telkom are stealing from me. And YOU and EVERYONE else who has an ADSL line. Their monopoly blinds them to their ethical responsibilities. I know that others are far worse off but that just underlines my point. How would you feel if you paid for 100 liters of petrol/diesel and only received 55 liters? It's the same principle. The latest chart lists SA's internet connectivity as amongst the worst in the world. Even Bulgaria has better internet than we do! That's shocking and unacceptable in my humble opinion.

Mb/MB /s confusion??????? What on earth are you implying? MB/s or Mb/s is just shorthand for Megabytes per second. What else could it mean in this forum?

Is Telkom your ISP as well?

And if not is your ISP account also 4MB?

****

You will never actually see 4096 / 8 = 512 KB/s on any speed test due to network overhead etc.

You should be seeing at least 400 KB/s though.

This is the same even for Ethernet where you will never see 102400 / 8 = 12,5 MB/sec either.

Dividing by 10 is a more reasonable expectation of real world output.

4Meg + sync overhead = >400KB/s

4Meg - sync overhead = <400KB/s
