Hi All

After going through a few posts on the web about ADSL and speeds, I've come across a few posters showing: I'm getting xxxkbps etc etc.

Where do you actually test this to get a reading of what your download/upload speed is?

Also, I've seen posters posting about SNR, Attenuation etc etc. What is this?

Thanks

+1 for speedtest.net. Nice tool that also lets you test your download and upload speeds to other countries.

You are on the MyBroadband website already - just click the link in the blue panel at the top right.

Thanks

Regarding ping times and ping latency. Do I just ping a website in SA and check the response time and do the same for an international site?

Thanks

The MyBroadband speed test gives you a nice summary after you have selected your connection type and whether a local or international speed test which includes latency.

speedtest.net also shows ping. Well use either of the two, whichever works the best for you.

Only issue with the MyBroadband speedtest is that it (looks like) that uses a Jhb server, so latency won't will be a bit higher if you are in Cape Town for instance. I normally use the MTN Cape Town server on speedtest.net.
