I was told by Telkom that I would have to wait 6 months to a year to get an ADSL line at my house. I was wondering, if I sign up with Telkom, would that speed things up? I dont want to be tied to a contract which I think one must sign with them, can anyone confirm this?

maybe he's telkom exchange is not adsl enabled...

kokaine... you can also check on telkom website to see if your phone line supports adsl by entering your telkom phone number (dont go enter your mtn/vodacom number)

If it does support adsl, it shouldnt take u 6 months...

with self install, max number of days should be 14 days

My exchange is ADSL ready, this has been confirmed by telkom. I dont have a line but they say that they I will have to install the line now, which they can do immediately, then I will have to wait between 6 and 12 months for the ADSL line.
This sounded a bit strange to me.

after you get the telkom line installed it should take a few days for them to convert it to adsl. There's no extra lines that must be installed

They said something about no ports being available.

I'll try them again and see what bull they try and feed me this time.

I'll let you guys know what they say.
