I think overall the type of connection you want boils down to what you need. For some, DSL would be cheaper, for others Iburst would be cheaper. I think with hindsight trying to compare services that use different technologies (cables / radio) becomes difficult when putting them all in the same box and saying that one is cheaper than the other. Each are better at some things than others and vice-versa.
I understand that some feel the extra bandwidth costs are high. But from my perspective, I require high speed, short-term contract, mobility, low data allowance and fast customer service. Therefore Iburst was the logical choice for me. Whether it is for you, is down to you. A good place to start for anyone reassessing their needs is to spend time weighing up the pro's and con's of each from a personal point of view. You can't really have a face off with other's about these technologies perhaps because everyone forms a view based on experience and what they want from the service.

E.g. With cell phones and landlines, you know that landlines are cheaper to use (possible exceptions to that statement). However, signing up to get a pre pay cell phone takes a few hours, getting a landline installed and activated by a technician took 4 weeks. You can also carry around your cell phone, you cant your home phone. The point is I'm a mobile man, others may not be. Do what suits you.
