So I got a warning of summons (or something like that I forget the exact syntax) because of a speeding ticket that I got in June.
The location wasn't anywhere near where I was, the car is clearly a Golf which is not the make or model that I drive. I also never received any actual ticket-only this warning.

My question is how can I contest this without having to go to court?
I remember there was an article on here a while back that had a similar plot-line but I cannot remember if it was resolved or not.

Warning of summons or whatever fearmongering SMS you got can safely be ignored.

If you really want to give the government more money for nothing there's many ways to check what fines you have on your name.

Just write a letter to wherever the fine was issued, and inform them of the fact that you drive a brand Y vehicle, but the fine is for a brand Z vehicle.

I have had this sort of thing happen three times to me in the past - once with my Corolla (was in the Lowveld when my Rolla magically teraported itself to Margate and triggered a speed trap), once was with my wife's car (it transofrmed into another car) and another time was when my scooter transformed into a bakkie in Potch.

In all three cases a nice, civil letter was sent out to the traffic departments informing them of the error, and I heard nothing back from them. Neither was there any outstanding fines on the eNazi system as well as a result of these three.

Another damn decepticon!

Few years ago the spietkops knocked on my door too (sommer 7 of them to retrieve 1 fine). I looked at the fine for a bike I don't own, and agreed to pay the fine after they bring it and hand it over to me.
And then 7 people said: "Eish".

Pity, you would've scored a bike for a good price. What amount was the fine for?

I have written similar letters to the traffic department before and had fines scrapped due to their mistakes.

I generally ignore traffic fines until I am forced to pay, like when I had to renew my drivers licence recently.
