Sentech have suddenly increased the speeds, because I have normally only managed to get these speeds (16KB/sec) for the 1st 500KB.

I noticed that when I downloaded the "linespeed meter" it came down at that speed for the whole 4.8 Meg, whereas before it dropped to about 5.5KB/sec.

Check my speeds http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpee...ountryId=196&ConnectionId=10458&UserId=146650

Do you think they have increased speeds for this week only, while RPM tests are being done? Or is it permanent.

My speeds are still stuck at 4.5k/sec :(

Robone, did you notice a speed difference after getting a new IP, or did it suddenly just get better?

Actually, I think what they have done, as mentioned in a previous post on a different thread, is to open up a few international sites for fast downloading, and the rest they leave at the usual slow speeds.

The ones I know so far are:
1. Microsoft
2. Apple
3. Tcpiq

So, rpm, I think the speed tests undertaken on mywireless might not show the true picture.

Those sites are also being served from Akamai

Keep in mind that downloads (and sometimes web pages) from Apple, Microsoft and a host of other large sites actually get served by Akamai (see www.akamai.com if you don't know who they are). There are 2 Akamai servers at Internet Solution so your download is coming straight from IS, through Sentech and to your modem. Makes for a large speed difference as nothing is coming from over the Atlantic

also bear in mind that a lot of people are on holidays so the contention ratio might be a bit lower

hmm i see you're getting hectic packet loss.. guess i should be a little grateful, because i dont get any at all

Yes- I think it is because I am still on the old software. From what I understand the new software does not have packet loss... maybe it is time to upgrade!
