Hi everybody,

I am in Constantia Park in Pretoria, and, watching my connection with NetLimiter, I find that I seldom get speeds above 100 kbps. Occasionally I do - I also think late at night helps.

I have full bars.

Anybody else in the area perhaps?

Would it help to move the thing around a lot, even though the signal strength stays the same?

Oh no thats not good for Prime at all. I get more than that on Lite.
Have a bash at downloading something and move the device around to see where you get optimal download speed. It's the signal clarity you are after not necessarily the signal strength so take into account what obstructions or interferences you may have that is hampering signal clarity.

I did move it to the window where I had it originally (first two days I had great speeds), and it seems a lot better now. However, it is also night. :)

What monitor do you use? A strange thing that I picked up is that it seems both NetMeter and NetLimiter Monitor sees the upstream as the downstream and vice versa?

100kb/s or 100KB/s???
100kb/s is very slow.
100KB/s is not bad.

I get 100KB/s avg.

100 kbits/second - hence my problem!

That's about 12 KB per second.

I've moved it last night, tried again this morning. Seemed much better (even though it only got elevated by 30 cm, and moved about 50 cm). Problem is, we actually use the phone and this places it in a less favorable position.

But I'll see tonight what it is doing.

Its been posted here before, but use the magic "Engineering Mode" *#2368*#07# and then select RSSI. The value is in db and lower is better.

I'm getting 83-85 but outside it drops to 70. My download speeds are really great 127KB/s bursting to 150KB/s for downloads. Pings are 180ms for a locally host server (work).

I have about 66 - seems a lot better these days. Perhaps some sort of maintenance or glitch at the tower.

:)

I was getting about 187KB/s last night.

And downloaded about 3.7GB during the day in about 8h45m - which I suppose is quite good for during the day.

On Telkom I could download only a CD iso in that time if I was lucky. Even with the crappy pings and sloowww upload speed I still prefer my Neotel.
