Why is there such a huge discrepancy with the speedtest.net results as well as the myBB speed test when compared to actual speeds achieved with torrents.

The following are 5 speed test results from speedtest.net

MyBB speed tests

Local

Test conducted on 08 June 2011 19:17:42
Download Speed: 985 kbps (123.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 397 kbps (49.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 179 ms

International

Test conducted on 08 June 2011 19:19:08
Download Speed: 820 kbps (102.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 224 kbps (28 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 325 ms

My torrents are running at about 90% of the speed all the time irrespective of when I run them. I just downloaded a 350mb file and it took me just under 25 minutes at an average speed of 215kB/s using the 2MB/s modem.

Speedtest.net and MyBB are using the results in grading different ISPs yet the speed that they record when I run the tests are not a true reflection of my actual speeds achieved. This obviously leads to iBurst being listed lower than what they should be.

This is a screenshot I took on Monday showing the speeds I achieved with uTorrent.

Are there any one else that have come across this? I would also like to know how accurate are the speedtest results? Are ther any other factors that can cause speedtest.net to report lower speeds than those achieved in uTorrent.

All tests were conducted with 100% signal and with no other internet traffic running in the background.

The reason is due to multi-segmentation. Speedtest.net tests single threaded.

Why does the myBB site say iBurst ADSL 10M and ADSL 512/1M?

Also, has any one else noticed
Local
Vodacom Vodacom 3G/HSPA 4.9 Mbps
Int
Vodacom Vodacom 3G/HSPA 8.45 Mbps

How does vodacom get such a big difference?
