Hi,

I would like to ask opinions on speedtest.net and what it is best used for. We do a lot of speed tests for last mile results and speedtest.net works perfectly for that.
When the for example you test to Europe and the US servers for speedtest.net the results are fair to good but not what is actually the speed of the link.

We have done mikrotik speed tests and iperf speed tests and the result are excellent and you actually get the results of the full link speed when testing internationally to some iperf servers and mikrotik routers.

In comparison to speedtest.net its results never match iperf and are always slower.

What is OOKLA's test actually best for or what is the preferred way of testing international speeds.

Thanks

nperf is perfect. But which is ideal for speedtests. nperf or speedtest.net

Whatever works I suppose, speedtest.net always shows full speed for me (on a 20/2Mb fibre) local and international

Are you running the other speed tests over tcp or udp? (iperf and mikrotik speed tests, if udp then that will always be faster than tcp)

I'm testing on a 500Mbps link. Speedtest.net never gets more that 100Mbps international. iperf and mikrotik get very close to full speed. All TCP.
