Spider bite?

Which spider in SA whose bite decays the flesh? Violin spider?

The one that got hold of Morty was probably the Savanna Violin Spider. He was not all that specific about when and where he was bitten, at his home or in JHB. The JHB Violin spider is supposed to be only found on the Witwatersrand. According to my little pocket guide on spiders (I never go anywhere without these little guides), the bite causes the affected tissue to die and leaves a pretty bad ulcerating lesion that takes weeks to heal.

Sac spiders are the ones that are found in the hollows of leaves. It is a candidate as the one that could have bitten OP. two bite marks, causes an inflamed swollen lesion that ulcerates after a few days.

The next candidate is The Black Widow . The bite is extremely painful. Rarely fatal affect nerve endings. An antivenom does exist, or, did exist.
The Brown Widow bite is also painful.

Then there is the 6 eyed crab spider. All the Southern Africa species have very toxic venoms. The venom causes massive tissue destruction, serious internal bleeding. Lungs, liver, heart are affected within hours. Loss of limbs and death is a distinct possibility. Bites are rare though.

A dangerooos place Africa is .

Button spiders' venom is neurotoxic. I think the earlier mention of a sac spider bite is likely on the money.
No idea tbh.

Never even saw the supposed hole, but it didn't sound like it ever uh filled again.

My dad was bitten by something that was potentially a button spider...mega drama w/ hospital and injections and what not. :/
