I'm not a big wine drinker, I usually swallow but only like 1 or 2 glasses. Wine goes to my head FAST. I'm already feeling fuzzy after the second one...

In some cases yes, mostly not. There's many factors that determines the price of a bottle of wine. From the bottle type, closure type, other packaging cost etc.. the more premium your packaging the more the cost. Then there's the winemakers cost, it cost more to make a more expensive wine, from what you do, how you do it, type of wood if you use wood.

There's many more variables. Even from the vineyard side, the better quality grapes can cost quite a bit more to produce as well. It's more than just the brand name that determines the price of a bottle of wine.

@Craig_ wine quality is linked to its name and since wine quality is completely subjective you only identify it by name.
As for premium packaging.
No cheating! please tell me which is more premium

I didn't bring my microscope.

Could see Cavalli on the left. Nice wines and an estate that really strives for exclusivity. But not a great wine tbh.

A good White wine in SA = R175 and up. A good Red = R200 and up.
