Just wanted to check with the 'experts' out there - on averge what would the monthly cost of maintaining a small splash pool????

Whats small?

I have one of those 4.5m round by 1m deep pools from makro. I use the small blu52 and put in half a portion once a week, so the 1 month thing lasts me two months and its stays clean. So that comes to about R50 in chemicals per month and about 2 hours a week cleaning the crap out of it.

@ Madman thats probably the size im wondering about...5 x 4m or thereabouts. If i had to get someone to clean it with my chemicals how much would that come to

Mines roughly that size - I use Blu52 once a week... so R90 a month + electricity.

That depends.. Do you have children? Neighbors kids? Otherwise you could just get a casual to do that and the rest of your garden for R80 to R120 every second week. It might get kinda dodgy toward the end of the second week tho.

i also asked this from a few people with pools and on a smaller size 5m x 3 m people spend abound R50 - R75 a month on the floater stuff. this is besides the brushing you have to do around the pool to prevent major algae build up like once a week and electricity costs for the pump

so this electricity business...how much does the pool add to the bill

Thats a "How long is a piece of string" question. It cost us about R600 in water to fill it, and we run the pump most nights. Its hard to say but I recon its added about R150 a month to the electricity costs.
