Hi.
I have a 5GB Telkom acc. and want to know if there is a way to split the account, in say 4 directions, on a Mega 200VWR in such a manner to have 4 computers, so that each of them would only be able to do 1.25GB each, using their MAC dresses or something...

Yes... you've guessed it, my brother is abusing the bandwidth

You would probably need to setup a separate linux firewall, like IPCOP or Smoothwall I guess. Don't think you could do it on the Mega 200WR.

It would require a seperate router that's much smarter than the mega i.e. smoothwall
Googled NAT quota, as this seems the only likely way to achieve this and there's not that much out there on the subject. a much easier method - bliksem the bro :)

It might be technically possible to do this with the VWR200 with some serious hackery since you have console access and it seems to run a POSIX system. You won't be able to do it through the menus. I'm not sure whether anybody in the world has actually managed it yet. Best is to route all traffic through a linux box like suggested above, but you could always just each get your own cap and use PPPoE so you don't share your cap with your brother.

Okay thx. I'm going to do the easy option, moer my big bro... lol

Your problem lies within the first 7 words of your first post...

GET RID OF TELKOM!!!

SAOL has a great deal on 384k uncapped... Otherwise drop your Account with Telkom, only pay them for line rental and get an Afrihost/Axxess/MyISP account

Telkom 5GB sounds like Do3. Probably won't want to give up that 4meg line.

If you do pursue this, chat to The_Librarian. He is good with Smoothwall and doesn't mind helping out.
