I've heard people talk about having two sims connected to one account.

I understand this can be handy when you have a phone and a tablet. But how does this work in the real world? What happens when you make a call on both at the same time, or if you get an incoming call, which one rings etc.

I'm thinking of getting another contract and adding it to my existing MTN Anytime topup, something with data and a device (leaning towards the Galaxy Note).

Any light shed on this would be appreciated.

basically one becomes the 'master' so if both are on only the 'master ' will ring no mater what number is dialed, if one is off and and i dial that number it will ring on the other phone regardless
not sure if you can make calls at the same time though

well i have dual simms with both MTN and vodacom

The MTN one is my main line, for this i use a blackberry for every day use and when im going to be in the water for a rescue or in a situation where my BB could be hurt, I use a samsung tough-type phone. So no simm swapping etc, just turn one off etc. If both phones are on, the main one rings i.e the BB, if not answered, the samsung will ring, and if BB is off, samsung will ring.

My vodacom is purely data, One inside my laptop and a mini inside my Ipad. And i can go online with both at the same time

Hope this has assisted

Awesome, thanks for the replies.

So if I sign up for a new MTN contract, I can latch it onto my existing account and share the benefits across devices using the same number?

Alternatively, I can get another sim and split my current Anytime package across two devices?

I've got the TwinCall SIM option on Vodacom. The master SIM is the one the receives calls if both phones are on. I usually just keep one phone on, with the other being a backup if the battery on the one dies on me... You can only make calls from the master if both are on though...

Does it function the same on MTN and does it cost extra?
