Splitting HDMI to Soundbar

Hi All,

Any suggestions here:

All TV viewing done through a Telkom LIT box with HDMI out to the TV and Optical audio out to a Sound Bar. My problem is that the Soundbar automatically switches off after a while if it doesn't receive input. I spoke to the manufacturers and tehre is not way to disable energy management. However, the soundbar also has HDMI input for audio and can receive a power on signal via HDMI CEC on that.

So I need to use HDMI for audio out from the LIT Box. But the Litbox only has one Video out and the TV doesn't have an HDMI out.

So I need some kind of splitter, but one that can go from a combined Audio/Video source (The Lit Box) to the TV and to the Soundbar (Audio only) and supports CEC so it can turn the soundbar on.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

You need a HDMI splitter. I bought a cheapish one from Takealot a couple years ago.
 
Check if your TV supports HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel)
It is usually only available through a specific port on the TV, also external speaker/soundbar will need to be compatible.

Otherwise something like this may work

I've used one of these to split the signal from an Apple TV, to auto power on the television TV (and switching to the right HDMI input).

I can't attest to it working as per your use case though, just to say there are HDMI splitters that can support HDMI-CEC passthrough

Tried one of these https://www.hdcabling.co.za/product...ts-3d-hdmi-v1-4-up-to-3840-x-2160-resolution/ but unfortunately didn't work. My guess is it needs to pick up somethinng on the second HDMI output to "Enable"and because there is no video device it isn't seeing it.
