Splitting Xbox One X & PS4 PRO signal between two TV's

Hi all

I hope that I can get a bit of advice from you guys. I know that it is possible to split the HDMI output from a console but, I want to know if it is possible to split the signal so that a 4K or FullHD tv can be used at a time. I have a PS4 Pro and an Xbox one hooked up to a 43" 4K tv, the problem is, only one console can be used at a time obviously. If my son wants to play, he's stuck. I have another 40" FullHD tv not far away that I was hoping could be used in the case that the 4K TV is occupied by myself.
The question is, the consoles are setup to output 4k HDR, can they be switched between (on the fly) a FullHD tv and 4K TV without having to change settings?
Lastly, if this is feasible and I set up a splitter cable and run the HDMI cable through the ceiling, how do I get the connector through the ceiling? I don't want a massive hole in the ceiling and I've never seen an attachable plug setup - if there is such a thing, would it need a special crimper like a network cable?
 
Honestly, you'd be better off lugging consoles around between the two TVs.. what about the controllers..?

Unless I am misunderstanding, you want the consoles to remain stationery and have your son play remotely via the TV in the other room..?
 
Hi, the TVs are in the same room, a few meters from one another so the controllers shouldn't be an issue. The Full HD tv is there because it has a WII u hooked up to it which my son has outgrown. I could just run a cable across the floor but this is unsightly and to be honest (with my kids) a tripping hazard as there is a doorway between the TV's. the real question, at this stage, is whether I need to switch settings on the console every time it outputs to a different TV (between 4K HDR and FullHD) or will it automatically detect the different TV's?

Set the res, hdr etc to auto and see what happens on the two tv's.
 
HDMI has a handshake protocol. The Xbone/PS4 should figure out that the ouput to the FHD screen is not 4K and set itself accordingly

I'm not clear on the query. Are you saying you want to be able to hook up both consoles to the same TV and be able to switch to them, or you are planning on moving a console from one TV to another, and one is UHD and the other only full HD?

The PS4 Pro will auto detect the TV's resolution and adjust accordingly if the latter.

I plan on splitting the output on each console so that they can be used between either of the TV's I have available, i.e., if I'm using the Xbox on the 4K tv then my son can then use the PS4 on the Full HD tv.
