Hi guys,

I hope I am in the right place. I need help urgently please. I installed a HP Color LasertJet CP1215 over a month ago. All well. Then since this morning, it suddenly keeps giving me 'Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close'.

I have googled it, and have found the solution on microsoft support, which involves editing / deleting registry keys. Or alternatively buying some program from Stronghold at US$39, apparently it might be a trojan? I am nervous of the first option, as I have no experience in editing registry keys, and am scared I'll screw it up. But don't feel like paying that amount if its something I can do myself.

Any opinions? Has this happened to anyone? What can I do?

I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled, rebooted etc. No difference!

Thx

If I reinstall, the test page prints fine, but the moment I print from anywhere else, it gives me that error!!! It is driving me insane!

Please uninstall the program and the drivers, please clean r eminence of these drivers on the pc with ccleaner and run registry fix program.Reinstall and disable the spooler serviceand restart. Then reenable the spooler service via admin tools services tab

Thx, printer only 1 mth old!

Ok, Im a total noob to this. Could you pls explain step by step. Dont want to mess it up!

Thx

Windows xp, I think sp3. I tried running my windows cd, but it says cd is older.

sorry i am back.
Lets first download ccleaner from www.filehippo.com,install it
Now you need to click on my computer right click and properties.Go to hardware tab and select device driver.
Go down the list to printer and uninstall the driver for that.
Once done use ccleaner and fix registry.
Now go to add and remove in control panel and delete the printer software.use ccleaner again.
Go to admin tools in control panel and select services tab,in there go to the print spooler service and disable it.Right now restart the pc and keep the printer cd ready, remember to disconnect the printer before restarting.
Now after the restart plug the printer in,and put the cd in the drive.Use the wizard thats your friend.
If you get a error just go and enable spooler service again and then reinstall printer and drivers.all set now gooooooo....phew

Thx !!!!

i followed it step by step, and it seems to have worked!!! It prints fine, and the error message hasn't come up again!

Much appreciated!

I must say, ccleaner removed 2.5GB worth of stuff! Very scary!
